Dunkirk Flavors is owned and operated by Rosemary Banach.
It all started in 1932 when Gertrude and Bruce Ritenburg decided to make a batch of chocolate syrup. Pleased with the outcome, they took the syrup to a local dairy and convinced the owner that their chocolate syrup was just the ingredient needed to make great chocolate milk. A relationship was struck, a boiler and kettle was purchased, the family garage was converted into a production facility, and Nog, Inc. was born.
Bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, they and their son, Bruce Jr., started producing ice cream novelty coatings, ice cream variegates with flavors such as butterscotch and strawberry, and the ever popular egg nog drink base. As they developed ties with regional dairies and ice cream manufacturers, the garage expanded steadily to accommodate increased production. Their market also expanded to serve the baking and candy industries as well.
While our most popular flavors still remain chocolate, peanut butter, caramel, marshmallow, and strawberry, we are acutely aware that people’s palettes are changing. We can custom develop, test and produce ingredients in any flavor, texture, consistency, and color using only the best raw materials.
